Perhaps the first thing that needs to be done is to define an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is, according to definition, someone who organizes and manages a business venture with a high degree of initiative and risk associated with its operation. Certain traits are going to characterize an entrepreneur, and below are a few which I believe are very important to point out.
1. Intelligent and creative – Throughout the business day, there are going to be a number of business problems which will need to be solved in order to continue with a smooth operation. An entrepreneur has to be able to come up with creative solutions to solve those problems.
Decisive – Because of the fast pace of society and the amount of information that everyone has access to, it can become quite overwhelming to make quick business decisions. However, it is very important that the entrepreneur can do that without getting mired in all of the unimportant details.
3. Honest – Obviously, not all entrepreneurs are honest; however, I believe that it is important to want to honestly serve the company’s customers, and to do the very best job possible to fulfill their expectations.
4. Risk taker – In order to be an entrepreneur, according to the definition, one has to be able to take on a certain amount of risk in order to pursue a desired level of success. That person needs to be able to make decisions under pressure where the outcome of those decisions are not always known.
5. Passion and determination – In order to become a successful entrepreneur, it is important that someone have passion and determination. Because it is that passion and determination which is going to help to fuel the dream so that dream may become a reality.
Obviously, there are many other characteristics which an entrepreneur will have; however, I believe that if someone possesses just the above, then that should be a good start in order to become successful.
