Wind Power Electricity – A Viable Alternative To Fossil Fuels ?
Nations and states are investing money in to sustainable wind power electricity farms situated across rolling plains and shallow ocean shelves. Alternative energy sources are variable by nature and so wind power electricity is just one part of a larger alternative energy picture.
On shore wind farms already exist around the world in small numbers. The largest of these is in Texas, United States of America. The farm contains 420 wind turbines and produces enough electricity to power 200,000 homes each year. Energy from the farms is fed into the public grid and sold to the government and power companies at pre-negotiated prices. The key to energy independence is incorporating multiple approaches to supplying energy. It is infinitely important to include solar in the alternative energy plan.
Wind power electricity is already a major component of energy plans worldwide. Australia currently has 42 wind farms with the largest, Lake Bonney Wind Farm producing over 230 MW of energy. Other countries with wind farms under construction include India, the Philippines, the EU, Brazil, and Morocco.
Research, development and investment in wind power has primarily come from private sources. Private investment and venture capitalism has set the ball rolling with wind energy production and is now reaping the benefits of government rebates and tax breaks. Now that alternative energy has become a top focus for politicians, more money will begin to flow to implementation efforts.
A sizeable amount of the world’s energy can come from wind power electricity. Energy production has been focuses on oil for obvious economical and political purposes. With the world in a recession combining wind energy with other alternative sources is going to save money, the planet and create jobs.
Alternative energy enthusiasts and activists are investing in small wind turbines to fuel their homes, schools, and businesses. As more and more people explore alternative energy solutions such as wind power electricity, look for favorable government loans, tax rebates and credits to benefit those willing to participating in alternative energy programs.
Wind energy and alternative energy sources will work best when understood on both macro and micro scales. Small and mid size organizations might benefit more from a small wind turbine as opposed to depending on the power company to secure alternative energies for them. We need to create alternative energy on a small scale and demand that this trend be replicated on the larger scale.
