How Intoxicants Affect Young Bodies
The human body is a paradox; in many ways it is very strong, but in other ways it is fragile. It only takes a single accident to kill a life, or a continuous barrage of some other kind of damage. Drugs are one of the many things in this world that destroy lives, both by ruining and ending them.
In regards to the teen body specifically, there are some other things you need to take into account. An adult’s body and mind has developed more and can withstand some of the damage done by intoxicants. The reason you need to be 21 to drink alcohol is because alcohol disrupts the development of the brain, and when you are young that is extremely important. Since one’s body is still growing throughout all their teen years, it is important to be especially careful during this period. That means abstaining from drugs and alcohol.
Teenagers often forget that life is relatively long and teenage life is relatively short compared to everything else. We need to take care of our bodies from a young age, so that when we are older, they will still be strong.
To avoid problems from smoking drugs, all you need to do is not smoke. However, in the case of cannabis smoke, there is virtually no damage, and the only negative factor is that the large part of the long is irritated. This part recovers quickly, and you cannot do any permanent damage to the lungs through cannabis, no matter how much you smoke of it.
When other organs start becoming negatively affected by drugs, that is when the real problems begin. The liver is an organ notoriously damaged by drugs, since that is the organ that processes substances we consume.
As important as the body is, the mind is even more so. The physical, psychological, and emotional damage done to the brain by drugs is unable to be comprehended by those who are not addicted.
With all the consequences that are waiting for those who use drugs, it is surprising that so many people use them. It seems that is just human nature, and it is up to each individual to learn what the truth is.
One cannot cite a lack of knowledge as the reason for their experimentation, as there is more than enough information available to satisfy any desire for facts. Armed with the right resources, anybody can overcome the challenges that we face in this drug-filled world, and make the correct decisions while staying strong and healthy.
