When most people think of a swimming pool in their back garden they imagine an in ground pool. As the name suggests these are built into the ground and are hence a permanent feature of the garden. For that reason you can pretty much get them in whatever size and shape you desire as they are custom built, but they can cost a lot. Most in ground pools will fun into the thousands of pounds and they can be a lot more.

The next thing you should take into account is how big the pool is. Of course you want your pool to be as big as possible, but there is no point getting one that means you have no garden left!

So how do you decide on the type of pool? The easiest way is to first decide on a budget – the price of the pool is usually a lot more for in ground so this decision may be made for you. If you have the money for an in ground pool though you should definitely consider it.
