Renewable energy is pretty simple and straight forward. It is basically another word for natural resources. Natural resources are renewed by nature there for run no risk of running out. These are great alternatives to energy problems that plague the nation.

Biomass: Biomass energy is completely organic, produced from natural materials like wood, animal manure and even garbage. More trees and plants can always be grown so this is a good source of reliable energy. An example would be when we burn wood in a fireplace, the burned wood releases heat that warms our homes.

Hydropower: Hydropower is the energy produced from using water. The more force the water has the more energy that can be produced. One of the oldest examples of this type of energy is the use of water turned mill wheels which ground grain.

Geothermal: Geothermal energy is generated in the core of the Earth. Rocks go through constant radioactive decay so the energy supply is endless. People have figured out how to harvest this great source of energy by digging wells in to the deep pockets of heated water in the Earth’s crust and then using this water to heat their homes.

Wind: Wind power is a more common type of renewable energy. Most states have wind turbines set up to harness this great source. Wind is produced when the Earth is heated in different degrees by the sun. Blades turn turbines which are connected to electricity generators.

The few examples of renewable energy sources listed here are not the only ways we are able to gather renewable energy. In fact, scientists are working every day to discover new sources and ways we can harvest those sources. The possibilities are almost endless!
