Making Your Garden Reflect Your Personality

The garden you create and decorate manifests your personality. Decorating it in your own way is the most interesting and fun things about gardening. The following three steps give you a clue about the creation and decoration of your garden.

1. Deciding on your layout. If you like formal gardens, then create straight and structured paths. Or else if you want your garden to look like a cottage garden then create flowing and meandering paths.

2. Picking out your plants. Before selecting the plants, make sure that it fits the space you have got in your garden. The plants you select for your garden reveal your personality. A Japanese Maple and Bamboo are suited for the modern mentality while roses best suit the traditional mentality. The perennials like Black Eyed Susan and Coneflower are the appropriate plants for a garden of a country style.

3. Decide on your accessories. This is where you really get to let your personality shine. You should always think about your accessories and plants together so they compliment each other.

Some of the accessories that most gardens have are decorative containers, garden gates and fences, and statuary. Each person will have his own view about these accessories. The following paragraphs explain each of the accessories in brief.

Containers are essential to most gardens. Even if you do most of your gardening in the ground, you will find that containers allow you to fill in blank spots when your flowers die back. They are also a wonderful way to garden in a small space or to add color to your porch.

The backdrops and boundaries for your garden can be created by using the garden fences and gates. They make all of your plants stand out. The use of short decorative fencing not only creates the boundaries to your garden but make it look good also.

Finally, garden statues are a great way to show off whatever you are interested in. There is no limit to the different kinds of garden statues available, and you can do just about whatever you want with them.

No matter how you decide to personalize your garden, make sure you enjoy it. That is the most important part. There are two basic rules when it comes to garden statues that you should follow. First, if you are using large statues (3 foot or taller), then 1 per area of your garden will make your garden look good. If you use small statues then you can put them in groups to get maximum impact.

As you go on decorating it in your way, you are personalizing it and that is the one which makes you more happy.
