Using Mouth Guards For Bruxism

Bruxism is a condition in which a person involuntarily clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth while they are sleeping. It is actually a very common condition and one that can be extremely hard to deal with. A person with bruxism will usually wake up and have a very sore jaw and mouth. Some people have chipped or even missing teeth and can even get infections in their gums from constantly biting down on their teeth and cheeks.

There are different treatments which are available for bruxism thattend to be effective. A lot of people want to know how to prevent bruxism and there is actually no known cause of bruxism so therefore there is no surefire way to prevent it. However, more than anything else anxiety and stress are considered as being associated with the condition. Doctors know that there is a correlation between stress and the bruxism condition and so the best way to prevent developing this condition is to keep stress levels down.

There are lots of different things that will help you reduce stress in your life. Taking a few days off work to just relax may even be enough if you are working constantly and this is what is stressing you out. If you are worried of dental damage then you will want to wear a mouth guard at night. The mouth guard will not actually prevent the person from grinding their teeth but does work well to keep them protected in case the person does.

Of course most people cannot afford to go to the spa on a regular basis but again even if you only do once in a while at least you are releasing your stress that much more. If you are a mother or even just dating someone and find you are too busy to spend time together and relax, than even just doing something like this can really help. All couples should make sure they are getting in a date night here or there, even if they have a house full of children. Not only can stress result in a condition like bruxism but also in a number of other health conditions, some which are extremely serious.

No amount of stress is good for the body but a bit of stress is considered to be normal. Whatever you can do that is going to make you happy and get rid of the stress, more power to you. The goal here is to keep yourself relaxed and as stress free as possible so you can not only avoid bruxism but also other stress related conditions.
