The Irish Flag
Many countries or nations in the world seem to fly tricolor type flags from all kinds of flag poles around building and non-building type constructions. Tricolor Ireland flags commonly display three different color bands of a similar height. The world counts many flags of different countries that are made available through flag rental or purchase.
Like other flags of Europe, the national flag of Ireland displays three vertical bands, with each band colored differently. The tricolor flag is shown and flown using flag poles and such throughout this territory. The equally sized bands display the colors orange, white and green.
The colors of this wonderful flag have no set meaning. Even though it is relatively old in comparison to other flags of Europe, Irish flags are said to have some symbolic meaning with regards to the colors green, white and orange. Interestingly, white is said to represent peace between the colors green (hoist side) and orange. Green is symbolic for the nationalist tradition of Ireland whereas orange is symbolic for the Orange tradition of this particular country.
The Irish flag was first presented by a group of French women as a gift to Thomas Meagher, towards the end of the first half of the 19th century, as an act of sympathy. It took another 75+ years before the flag was raised and flown from a flag pole above the post office in Dublin. It was then that the tricolor banner was first considered the national flag of Ireland. Its official adoption was not till 1919.
The island of Ireland is occupied by two political entities in our day, (1) the Republic of Ireland, organized in 1919 and officially formed in 1922, and its capital known as being Dublin.
